UAE citizens can travel to Europe visa-free Posted on: 09-05-2015

UAE citizens can travel to Europe visa-free

Emiratis will be the first in the Arabian Gulf, who can travel freely to Europe. The European Union waived the visa requirements for UAE nationals in the Schengen countries, according to The National.

Now citizens of the United Arab Emirates can travel to 106 states without visa. Meanwhile the Ministry Foreign Affairs launched a booklet of guidelines for those, who want to travel to the Schengen countries.

Visa-free rules also apply for the eight non-Schengen countries include Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Romania, Vatican, Andorra, San Marino and Monaco. Ireland and the United Kingdom are also not members of the Schengen area, but from last year citizens of the UAE can apply online for free visa waiver.

According to Ahmed Al Shamsi, an FNC member from Ajman, the decision should be considered as a “privilege to the European Union”. He told to The National that not the Emiratis are immigrating to European countries, because the citizens of other countries would like to immigrate to the UAE.

Meanwhile Grenada, St. Lucia and other Caribbean countries are still waiting for the official announcement of the EU about the visa-free travel of their citizens to Europe. In their case the decision is not only important because they can travel easier, but for sure their citizenship will be more appreciated. It will simply change the market of the Caribbean Citizenship by Investment Programmes. Grenada in February became the fifth nation in the world to sign a visa-waiver agreement with China.

The United Arab Emirates was on the same waiting list as Dominica, Grenada, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.

Now Antigua and Barbuda’s and St. Kitts’ citizenship by investment programs can be more expensive and “valuable”, because of the their Schengen visa-waiver status.
