ARMENIA’S AGRICULTURE OUTPUT GROWS 5.2% TO AMD 68.5 BILLION IN JAN-MARCH 2014
Armenia’s agriculture output amounted to AMD 68.5 billion in Jan-March 2014 – 5.2% year-on-year growth, the National Statistical Service reports. Agriculture and fishery sectors’ aggregate output grew 6.4% in Jan-March 2014, compared with the same period a year before, to AMD 77.5 billion. The country’s cattle-breeding section accounted for the output amounting to AMD 65.9 billion – 4.7% year-on-year growth, its plant-growing section released products totaling more than AMD 2.6 billion – 19% year-on-year growth, and fishery’s output was recorded at AMD 9 billion – 18.6% growth. According to the statistical report, 6,800 tons of cattle and poultry meat were sold in March 2014 – 4.6% more than in March 2013. Gegharkunik and Shirak provinces were singled out in the report for the largest amounts of the meat sold in March 2014 – 1,000 tons each. Some 68,700 tons of milk were produced in Armenia in March 2014 – 5.9% more than in the same month a year earlier. Gegharkunik is ahead of other provinces also here – it produced 12,800 tons in March 2014. The country’s egg output shrank 1.9% in March 2014, compared with the same month a year before, to 50.4 million. The largest number of eggs was produced in Kotayk province – 13.7 million. Fishery section accounted for 1,077 tons in March 2014 and for 27.3% year-on-year growth, and the entire output has reportedly been sold. ($1 – AMD 413.21).
