Armenia’s gross agriculture output grows 7.1% to AMD 918.6 billion in 2013
Armenia’s gross agriculture output amounted to AMD 918.6 billion (2.2 billion) in 2013 – 7.1% year-on-year growth, Atom Janjughazyan, the deputy finance minister and chief treasurer, said Saturday presenting the 2013 budget performance report to the parliament. “Spending on agriculture amounted to AMD 9.3 billion (22.5 million), and budget performance was recorded at 83.7 percent here,” he said adding that the ministry’s spending grew 2.5% in 2013. He said AMD 634.5 million ($1.5 million) was spent on subsidizing interests on loans for farmers in 2013 – 9.8% more than in 2012. According to the report, $2.66 million was spent on vaccination of cattle and chickens. Janjughazyan also pointed out figures showing off-budget financing. In particular, International Fund for Agricultural Development provided AMD 359 million ($869,000) and OPEC Fund for International Development AMD 2.3 billion (5.5 million) for development of rural infrastructures. Besides, AMD 1.4 billion ($3.4 million) was borrowed from the World Bank for improving pastures.
