GOLDEN VISA – Residence Permit / Portugal Passport

To obtain this Residence Permit Visa (Golden Visa) all you need to do is fulfill investment requirements.

A Golden Visa is granted for foreign non EU citizens that for minimum period of 5 years fulfill one of these requirements:

  1. Acquisition of Real Estate in total value equal or greater than 500.000 Euro (half a million Euro) for new properties, 400.000 Euro for new properties in areas with less than 100 habitants per km2, 350.000 Euro for Properties with more than 30 years old and
    280.000 Euro for properties more than 30 years old located in areas with less than 100 habitants per Km2. In this case you are enti- tled to buy one or more than one property and it does not need to be residential property. You can choose between doing your investment in Residential, Commercial or Rural or Plots.
  2. The creation of a company that holds 10 permanent jobs. All this jobs need to be newly created and certified by local Social Secu- rity Institution that proves the legal employee certificates.
  3. Transfer capital in an amount equal or greater than 1.000.000 Euro (1 million) into a Portuguese Financial Institution for a period of 5 years. The certification of this transfer needs to be provided by Financial Institution in order to be able to apply for Golden Visa. This investment can be performed in the name of a company as long as you are the sole or first holder of the shares of the company in the amount percentage of capital invested being equal or greater to one million Euro.

Once you obtain your Golden Visa you are entitled to freely travel between Schengen Space which is composed by 26 countries and use same visa policy. (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Spain, Finland, France, Greece,
Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland).

WHAT ARE THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS?

How to Obtain Golden Visa and European Passport (Portugal)

To request the Golden Residence Permit you need to submit your application to Portuguese Immigration Service (SEF). It must be done with appointment and with fully complete application form and legal documents:

  1. Passport or travel document with a validity of at least three months;
  2. Valid Schengen visa, or a short term visa – In order for the Residence Permit to be granted, non EU citizens must regularize their stay in Portugal, within 90 days of their first entry into the country. A short term visa – Schengen visa, may be issued by the Portu- guese consulate in the country of origin.
  3. Proof of legal entry and stay in Portugal is mandatory;
  4. Police Clearance Report of the country of origin or of the country where the applicant has resided for more than one year, duly recognized by the Portuguese authorities (authentication by the Portuguese consulate or apostille) (Required for all applicants over 16 years old);
  5. Sworn statement by the foreign national, attesting that the same will comply with the minimum quantitative and time require- ments regarding the investment activity in Portugal;
  6. Declaration issued by the Portuguese Tax Authorities and social security attesting the in-existence of any debts of the foreign national to the said entities;
  7. Proof of one of the 3 (three) types of investment

GOVERNMENT FEES

Main Investor:

-Analysis fee for SEF – 520,40€ (for the government to check all the documents and approve)
-After the SEF approval for the documents the investor need's to pay 5.202,60€ to be issued the residence card;

For each family member:

-Analysis fee - 108,20 €
-After the SEF approval for the documents each family member has to pay 5.202,60€ to be issued the residence card;

After the first year, renewal every 2 years (does not have a limit):

-Investor pays - 2.601,30€
-for each family member - 2.601,30€ Citizenship Scenario: Renewals are made after 1+2+2 years (3 renewals)
-All renewals have the duration of 2 years and will cost the same as before.

Legal Fees:

-Investor - 10.000€
-Each family members - 2.500€
-Renewals (each member and investor) - 1.500€

WHICH FAMILIY MEMBERS CAN JOIN MAIN INVESTOR IN THE APPLICA- TION?

-Only direct dependents such as, parents, sons, grandparents, grand- child's, parents in law. Cousins and Aunts will not be considered.

WHO IS CONSIDERED DEPENDENT?

-All minors (under 18 years old) (do not have to be in Portugal)
-All single (unmarried) adults that are studying on a Full time basis and without a source of income.

WHICH NATIONALITY CAN NOT APPLY FOR THIS PROGRAM?

-All nations are considered to apply for this Residence Permit, with exception to EU Citizens.

IS THERE ANY LIMIT OF VISA APPROVED PER YEAR?

-No. There is no limit of number of Residence Permit, that can be issued under this regulations.

CAN I GET CITIZENSHIP / PASSPORT AFTER 6 YEARS?

-To get the Passport after 6 years you need to apply for nationality and pass a multiple choice basic Portuguese language test.
-All persons joining the main applicant can apply for nationality after 6 years.

CAN I WORK IN PORTUGAL WITH THIS VISA?

-Yes they can work, live and study in Portugal as a regular citizen.

DO THEY NEED TO PAY TAXES ON GLOBAL EARNINGS AFTER GETTING THIS VISA?

-If you spend over 183 days per year in Portugal you have to declare their global earnings and pay taxes following our IRS Tax Rate. If you do not spend over 183 days per year are considered as non-resident and only the income with origin in Portugal needs to be declared and pay taxes. You can also use the double taxation agreements with your country of residence to clear the exact tax rate.
